Answers to common questions.

Address, access and account

How do I find my public IP address?
Open ip.hostux.net. For a script, https://api4.nomadns.net/ip and https://api6.nomadns.net/ip return the address of each family.
My subdomain is “Served”, but my device cannot be reached.
Nomadns only publishes the address. Your router must also forward the port to the device, and the firewall must allow it. Behind a CGNAT (IPv4 address shared by the provider), IPv4 is not reachable; use IPv6 if your connection provides one.
My client always gets nochg.
That is expected: the address has not changed and nothing is modified. A private address (192.168.x.x, 10.x.x.x…) is also ignored; the subdomain history shows it as “Address refused”.
My client gets badauth.
The identifier or secret is wrong, or the token was renewed or revoked. After 10 failures in 10 minutes, the IP address is blocked until the end of the window.
Can I use my own domain?
Yes, with a CNAME: nas.example.org. CNAME home.nomadns.net. follows the address of home.nomadns.net. For a certificate, see challenge delegation on the Certificates page.
Can I have more subdomains?
The default quota is 3. For more, write to Hostux through the contact page.
Are wildcards (*.home.nomadns.net), MX or CNAME records possible?
No: Nomadns publishes your subdomains’ A and AAAA records, and ACME challenge TXT records. A wildcard certificate is still possible with DNS-01.
I lost a token’s secret.
It is shown only once. Renew the token on the subdomain page, then put the new secret in the client.
How do I delete my account?
Write to Hostux through the contact page. The subdomains are deleted and stay reserved for you for 30 days.
